Killer mum who stamped daughter to death has been knifed in prison

Mother and drug addict Kathryn Smith 23, who was jailed for stamping her 21 month old daughter to death has been knifed in a revenge attack in prison. Kathryn's face was slashed in an attack by two inmates in a women’s jail as many as 10 lags looked on.

She howled in pain as she was punched and stabbed during a four-minute beating in a stairwell. Kathryn was left with two centimeter stab wound on her cheek. She screamed in agony as she she was maimed in a brutal assault that saw her kicked, punched and knifed.

Sources said the notorious Foston Hall women's prison in Derbyshire say the attack was planned by violent inmates desperate to seek revenge on the evil young mother for the utterly savage murder of her helpless toddler.

"No one had any sympathy for Smith. Some staff were saying, ‘What goes around comes around’.”

Her partner, Matthew Rigby, 22, got three and a half years for causing or allowing the tot’s death.
