EuroSport Paper Round: Mario Gotze move to Liverpool close, Romelu Lukaku chooses Chelsea
The Sun are reporting that Liverpool are close to snaring German star midfielder Mario Gotze for £20 million. A deal is reportedly impending, as the Bayern Munich
star is keen on reuniting with his former boss and the club want to get
transfer business done early to avoid missing out on targets.
The 23
year old World Cup winner is currently recovering from a broken rib
injury, but is approaching peak fitness ahead of Euro 2016 and next
season. Klopp believes Gotze is a key component for Liverpool going forward and can help move the Reds into Champions League contention.
Chelsea are believed to be Romelu Lukaku's destination next
season, as the Daily Mail reports the wantaway striker has made up his
mind about where he wants to play next. Despite ongoing interest and
contact to his agent by Man United, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Bayern Munich, the report says that Lukaku is leaning towards a move back to Chelsea. The catch is that Everton
still have a final say where he ends up, as he's in contract and the
club has slapped a whopping price tag of £65 million for the Belgian
international's services.
Manchester United
are prepared to spend £25 million in order to get Southampton winger
Sadio Mane to Old Trafford, according to the Sun. The report says United
view Mane as the quick attacking midfield outlet that the club lack,
able to play anywhere across the front four or five positions on the
ground. United have the belief that Champions League is an irrelevant
motivator to get Sane to join the club, as the Red Devils currently
don't have the elite club competition they had hoped for other A-list targets
like Mats Hummels.
Liverpool want Leicester's Danny Drinkwater for £14 million
The Mirror are reporting that Jurgen Klopp is keen on snaring the services of Leicester City
midfield dynamo Danny Drinkwater. The report says the Reds are
preparing themselves to make a bid for Drinkwater, rating him at £14
million. Klopp is reportedly impressed with Drinkwater's contribution to
Leicester's historic title win and has placed the 26 year old in his
plans to take Liverpool back to Europe next season. It is believed that Claudio Ranieri
will resist any attempts to have Drinkwater leave the club, as he has
the England midfielder in his Champions League plans next season.
