25 people killed in Yemen Suicide bombing

An explosive was detonated by a suicide bomber on Sunday in the southern Yemen city killing at least 25 people in an attack targeted at the police. The bomber detonated his explosives among policemen standing in line outside a police base said, security and health officials. 17 more people sustained various
degree of injuries and the death toll was likely to rise further said officials.In a new development, the affiliate of the Daesh group also known as ISIS has claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement posted on social media.

Among victims of the attack were policemen returning to work for the first time since Mukalla was recaptured by government and Saudi-backed forces and young men applying for jobs with the city’s police are also thought to be among the dead.


The attack is regarded as the second fatal suicide bombing in four days in Mukalla.
Security sources said Mubarak al-Awathaban, the city’s security director, who was in an office near to the recruits at the time of the explosion, survived the blast.
